Features

Everything that takes the thinking away.

A household that eats differently, an allergy you can't get wrong, a fridge that needs using up, and a week you didn't plan for. KalaPlate holds all of it — from the first proposal to the last thing ticked off the trolley.

Planning

A week you actually agreed to

Four planning modes

Keep it flexible for a mental reset, Tell me exactly for "what to eat and when", Hit my macros against each person's targets, or Surprise me — you choose, we keep your rules.

Confirm gate

Menu titles first, swap any you don't like, then we write the recipes. You're never handed a week you didn't approve.

Household-aware serves

Away days shrink the plan; kid portions count fractionally, so nobody over-caters.

Breakfasts, snacks & desserts

Pulled from the library by the weekly counts you set — as much or as little as you want planned.

No-repeat rule

A hard eight-week no-repeat on dinners, plus scoring against the same protein or cuisine twice in a week.

Pin to next plan

Flag a favourite and it rides into the next build — then the flag clears itself, so you never double up.

Recipes

A recipe you can't get lost in

Recipe Flow format

No more losing your place in a blog full of life stories and pop-up ads. Every recipe becomes a step timeline: ingredients clustered per step, location headings like "In the pan", tick-off progress, and a serves stepper that rescales quantities live.

A library that never runs out

Greatest Plates is our curated, photographed, macro-annotated collection — and it's only the starting point. The recipe generator builds a dish around the ingredients you have and your household's preferences, so the choice is effectively unlimited: if the right recipe isn't in the library, KalaPlate creates one.

Imports from URL or photo

Bring any recipe in and it's converted to Recipe Flow, clearly badged "Imported", with the original source kept and shown.

Favourites & keen-to-try

Save from plans, imports or the library; group and filter by meal type, protein or cuisine. Finally cook the one you saved two years ago.

Owned ingredient icons

Hand-drawn flat vector icons in the brand palette — a library that grows with every ingredient. No stock photos, no mismatches.

Inspirational photography

Generated photos share one calm art direction — natural light, real crockery, no props shouting. No text overlays or badges.

Shopping

A list that survives the supermarket

Auto-built shopping list

Built from structured ingredient data — quantities added up across recipes, grouped by store and by fridge, fresh and pantry.

Store preferences

Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, Costco, farmer's market or other. Pick a store on a list and it's remembered for next time.

Staples & already-have

Every-week items ride every list; tick "already have it" before you leave and it drops off; one-off ticks clear themselves.

Ingredient reuse

The plan is built to reuse ingredients across the week and avoid one-off specialty jars that die in the cupboard.

Every now and then

Bin bags, shampoo, dog food wait quietly in their own group — you'll know at the cupboard, not now.

Trolley ticking

The list stays checkable while you shop, so it keeps up with you aisle by aisle.

Eating & tracking

Track without the data entry

Plate rings everywhere

Real macro proportions beside every recipe name — or an honest categorical reading (balanced, add greens, greens, treat) when that's the true level of knowledge.

Per-person plate guides

Anyone tracking gets their serve on the shared dinner — "about 1¼ serves: 140 g beef, 190 g rice." Nobody eats a separate meal.

Daily tracker

Log meals straight off the week's menu by serve size, add extras per person, and never enter ingredients by hand unless you want to.

Ingredient macro library

For the times you're building a one-off plate and want the numbers to hand.

Household & account

Set up once, edit forever

Full household questionnaire

Members, allergies, diets, kid settings, equipment, budget, protein-per-meal preference and planning style — permanently editable as life changes.

Web + mobile

The web app and the mobile app share one account and one set of data, so you plan on the couch and shop from your pocket.

Multi-language groundwork

English is live, with Portuguese and Spanish staged behind review.
