How it works

One pot, different plates.

KalaPlate plans a week of dinners the whole household will actually eat, turns it into one shopping list, and walks you through cooking with a recipe format you can't get lost in — while giving each person their own plate guide on the same shared meal. It was built by a busy family to take the nightly thinking away.

Plan your first week See everything it does

The week, in four calm steps

You set up your household once. After that, a good week of dinners is four taps away — and you never get handed a plan you didn't agree to.

1

Tell us your household

Who's eating, what they can't have, how the week looks. Allergies, diets, kid portions, away days — set once, edit any time.

2

Approve the menu

We propose a week of titles first. Swap anything you don't fancy. Only then do we write the full recipes — never a week you didn't choose.

3

Shop one clean list

The plan becomes a single shopping list, quantities added up across the week, grouped by your stores and by fridge, fresh and pantry.

4

Cook without getting lost

Recipe Flow walks you through step by step — ingredients clustered per step, tick-off progress, and a serves stepper that rescales as you go.

"I handed the recipe to my daughter and watched her lose her place, same as I always do. It wasn't us. So I drew it out on paper — a flow you can actually follow." That drawing became the heart of KalaPlate. — Melina, founder

You know the other kind of recipe — a wall of someone's life story, pop-up ads and an autoplaying video, while you scroll with one clean finger hunting for the actual method. Recipe Flow is the opposite. Every recipe, wherever it comes from, becomes the same calm step-by-step you can't lose your place in — no ads, no scrolling back up to check which onion goes where.

Everyone eats differently. One plan still serves everyone.

Partners with different appetites, kids at different stages, an allergy that makes mistakes dangerous, and weeks where you care more or less about macros. KalaPlate holds all of it in one household profile — so one setup replaces the nightly negotiation.

  • Per-member profiles carry allergies, personal won't-eats, diets and kid portion style.
  • A dislike isn't a ban. One person hating olives doesn't strip them from a dish four others are enjoying — it's a gentle steer to leave them off that plate.
  • Away days shrink the serves. "Rafa's away Wed–Sun" and the plan quietly cooks for who's home.

Most plans make the person with targets cook their own sad chicken breast. KalaPlate doesn't: one dinner, cooked once, with a plate guide for whoever needs the numbers.

Allergies are treated as law, not a filter

Most apps treat allergies as a checkbox. KalaPlate collapses every member's allergies, plus household never-include and protein-exclusion lists, into one forbidden set — enforced when the menu is generated, again when a meal is selected, and re-checked before the plan is built. The matching is deliberately over-cautious: a false alarm costs a retry; a miss could hurt someone. Vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian diets are hard rules too, never soft suggestions.

Enforced three times

Generation, selection, and a final server-side check before your week exists.

Stated plainly

Safety copy is calm, firm and unmissable — never buried in a cheerful icon or decorative colour.

School-aware

Nut-free-school and canteen days flow into the whole plan without you re-explaining them.

Four ways to plan, for the week you're actually having

The same family swings between committed and flexible. Switching apps for that makes no sense, so KalaPlate holds all four modes in one place.

Keep it flexible

A balanced week, swap freely as you go. The mental reset — our tip when groceries day comes around too fast.

Tell me exactly

A fixed calendar — this meal, this day. Meals spread across your chosen days, with leftovers turned into lunches.

Hit my macros

Stick to each person's protein / carb targets, with a plate guide on every shared dinner. Approximate by design — get close, live your life.

Surprise me

You choose — we just keep your rules and exclusions. A fresh week with no decisions to make at all.

Honest numbers, or no numbers

Every library recipe is macro-annotated, and the plate ring shows the real protein, carb and fat energy split. When the data can't support a ring, KalaPlate withholds it rather than drawing a guess. A treat night wears a quiet oat ring — no streaks, no shame, no "cheat meal detected". Approximate tracking beats no tracking.
